Nissan has unveiled its new Nissan Sentra at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show, with sales scheduled to commence soon after the official reveal.
The 8th generation Sentra is built on a new platform confirmed to be 2 inches lower and 2 inches wider than the previous generation. The exterior design also benefits from new design details that include the signature V-motion grille, thin LED headlamps and floating roof. A new wheel designs and a slate of new colors, including three new two-tone color combinations are also part of the package.
The refined interior design benefits from the use of high-quality materials found on the steering wheel, seats, with crafted dials and switches summing up the luxury look and feel of the interior. Infotainment features include an available floating 8-inch multi-touch center display and NissanConnect featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Powering the upcoming Sentra is a new 111kW/198Nm 2.0liter 4-cylinder engine that replaces the previous 1.8litre unit. Improved fuel economy is also part of the new engine’s package that also offers dynamic performance in conjunction with the new independent rear suspension and a new rack electric power steering system.
Safety has also been beefed up with the inclusion of advanced safety and driver assistance technologies. These include a standard Nissan Safety Shield 360, a suite of six advanced driver-assist systems that includes Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Automatic Braking, and High Beam Assist. The new Sentra also offers standard 10 airbags, Rear Door Alert, Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, and Intelligent Driver Alertness.
The new Nissan Sentra has been scheduled to go on sale internationally in January 2020, with neighbouring countries following soon after. Mzansi availability is yet to be confirmed.
