BMW has lifted the wraps from their new BMW X5 M and X6 M models, including the more potent Competition counterparts.
Both the X5 M and X6 M, including the Competition models benefit from distinct styling cues that include high gloss black kidney grille surround, exterior mirror caps, M gills and on the rear spoiler. standard equipment also includes 21inch M light-alloy wheels in polished Black and an M Sport exhaust system. Also available is an optional M Carbon exterior package, which features carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) for the front air intakes, the air blades in the front apron, the rear diffuser and the exterior mirror caps. These elements are joined by a CFRP rear spoiler.
The interior is gains distinct styling cues that include M-specific instrument cluster displays, M leather steering wheel with red M1/M2 buttons and gearshift pedals, M multifunction sport seats and an M selector leaver.
Enthusiasm is drawn from the same 4.4litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine that delivers 441kW/750Nm on the X5M and X6M, with the Competition hoonigans benefitting from a 19kW power increase. All models send power to all 4-wheels via a standard 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic and three shift modes.
Both the BMW X5 M and X6 M with their Competition counterparts will be headed to Mzansi shores, with introduction dates yet to be confirmed. Stay tuned.
