The new Mazda 3 sedan and hatch models have finally hit centre stage at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show following hyped-up teaser updates on what to expect from the newly designed model when it hits Mzansi showrooms in 2019.
With extensive details yet to be released, the maker has however confirmed the new Mazda 3 range to adopt a matured Kodo design language that is said to be ‘simple and subtle with a more powerful expression’. Despite sharing the Mazda3 name, the hatchback and sedan models have also been confirmed to have distinct personalities — the design of the hatchback is dynamic, with that of the sedan being more elegant.
Powertrain line-up for Mzansi has been confirmed to include the latest SKYACTIV-X, SKYACTIV-G and SKYACTIV-D engines, with each unit claimed to offer a smooth and responsive throttle control.
“The all-new Mazda3 we unveil today begins a new era for Mazda,” said Akira Marumoto, Mazda’s Representative Director, President and CEO. “The next generation of Mazda cars will enhance the value of the car-ownership experience. Though these products, we will further raise Mazda’s brand value and work towards our goal of building ever stronger bonds with customers all over the world.”
The new Mazda 3 range will be showcased at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show until the 9th of December 2018, with Mzansi availability scheduled for the second half of 2019. Stay tuned for more confirmed details including pricing.
