Mercedes-Benz has lifted the wraps from its performance oriented GLB 7-seater SUV, which gains performance and design touches from the AMG division – meet the new Mercedes-AMG GLB 43 4MATIC.

Design-wise, the AMG GLB 43 4MATIC is easily distinguished from the standard model, thanks to specific AMG exterior touches that include the AMG-specific radiator grille, front splitter, the prominent rear apron with two round, single tailpipe trim elements and the color-coded AMG roof spoiler. Standard 19-inch AMG 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels, AMG high-performance brake system with silver brake callipers and black AMG lettering at the front adds to the aggressively looking exterior design.

Besides the standard specification being based on the AMG line, customers can also opt for the AMG Night package with design features such as the front splitter and rear apron trim in high-gloss black, plus black chrome-plated exhaust tailpipe trim elements.

Interior finishing comes in the form of leather sport seats, red seatbelts, multi-function sports steering wheel, whilst two optional Leather packages with a choice of two-tone upholstery, for example in classic red/black, and topstitching on the beltline and dashboard, enhance the interior even further. Infotainment features include the MBUX system with a host of AMG performance displays also creating that sporty ambiance.

Power is sourced from a 225kW/400Nm 2.0litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that delivers power through all 4-wheels via a standard AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 8G dual clutch transmission with five AMG DYNAMIC SELECT drive programs (Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Individual). Also on the cards is the RACE START function which allows for a 0-100km/h sprint to be completed in 5.2sec before clocking a top speed of 250km/h.

The new GLB 35 4MATIC has been confirmed to be the first compact car by Mercedes-AMG to be optionally available with a third seat row consisting of two additional individual seats, plus fore-and-aft adjustment of the second seat row and the EASY-ENTRY feature… Talk about family fun and performance.

The new Mercedes-AMG GLB 43 4MATIC is yet to be confirmed for Mzansi. Stay tuned.
