BMW has afforded us a front seat view of their new 2-Series Gran Coupe, directly aimed at the new Mercedes-Benz CLA range… Kwashuba!
Exterior design elements are typical of the current 2-Series coupe range with standout features including the dynamically stretched silhouette, four frameless side windows and the rear lights extending into the centre of the rear end, merging into a High-gloss Black band that runs up to and encircles the centrally located BMW badge.
Notable interior highlights include an increase in rear passenger legroom (33mm increase), larger boot space (40mm increase) and an optional panoramic sunroof, all of which are features that add onto other currently available features on the Coupe range.
At launch, the new BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe will be available with one diesel and two petrol engines. These include an entry-level 218i model that slots a 103kW 1.5litre 3-cylinder powertrain, whilst the range topping M235i xDrive benefits from a 225kW 2.0litre 4-cylinder engine that drives all 4-wheels via a standard 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission with launch control. Tree huggers benefit from a 140kW 2.0litre turbo diesel engine.
