Suzuki Mzansi has upped the ante within the 7-seater MPV segment as the maker adds more bells and whistles to the Ertiga GLX range… It’s more comfort and convenience for “Omalume”.
In a nutshell the Ertiga GLX will now offer all of the luxuries currently available on the GL model and add a host of styling and luxury features, which will make it stand out from the range and other seven-seat vehicles in this category, especially the Toyota Avanza that is the Ertiga’s direct rival.
Exterior updates come in the form of high-quality chrome on the door handles and rear garnishes, with the latter discreetly hiding a new reverse camera. The gloss from these additional trim pieces is mirrored in the new 15” alloy wheels, which replace the steel wheel and hubcap combination of the GA and GL models. Also added are front and rear mud flaps and front fog lamps, with the rear also benefitting from curved LED light strip to the LED combination lamps.
Cabin updates come in the form of a new wood-grain trim, height-adjustable driver’s seat and new centre console box. Infotainment upgrades come in the form of a new 7” touch-screen infotainment system with Apple’s CarPlay and Google’s Android Auto. Also on the cards is a second 4.2” colour multi-info display in the instrument cluster. Like its sibling GLX-models, the Ertiga GLX foregoes a standard key with remote central locking for a combination of keyless access and a Start/Stop button. It also replaces the standard air conditioning system with automatic climate control, which includes an ambient temperature sensor to ensure that the pre-set interior temperature is maintained.
The GLX model employs the same 77kW/138Nm 1.5litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that is available across the range. This unit drives the front wheels via a choice between an auto or manual transmission, with fuel consumption rated at 6.2l/100km.
