The design is muscular, sporty and definitely looks much bigger. Slim LED headlamps with matrix high beam, large BMW kidney grille, eye catching chrome strips in the lower air intakes. The side has long rooflines and rides on big 20inch wheels. Looking from the back the sportiness is still carried over with a spoiler, striking LED lights and flared wheel arches producing the typical SAV look.
The Interior is spacious with a progressive ambience. A 10.25inch infotainment display with an operating system 8 and the new BMW iDrive, leather sporty seats with blue stitching with electric seat adjustment and memory function. A floating arm rest with an integrated control panel and smart phone tray that has wireless charging enhance practicality and everyday usability. The X1 also comes with a panaromic roof option to finish off the luxurious interior look.
The X1 has amazing safety features such as a heads up display, augmented view, cruise control with brake function, active cruise control with stop & go function, exit warning function, parking assistant, lane departure and much more.
The X1 comes in two derivatives, The BMW X1 sDrive18d and BMW X1 sDrive18i. The sDrive 18d has a four-cylinder engine which produces 110KW and 360Nm, does the 0 – 100 in 8.9 seconds with a claimed fuel consumption of 5.0l/ 100km. The sDrive 18i has a three-cylinder engine which produces 115KW and 230Nm, does the 0 – 100 in 9 seconds with a claimed fuel consumption of 6.5l/ 100km. We got to driving the X1 models and I must say it is an all rounder offering optimum blend of agility and ride comfort. The X1 offers a well resolved handling characteristics in any situation and deliver the driving experience for which the brand is renowned.
