As Chery prepares to begin local production in South Africa, the Chinese manufacturer has also started reshuffling its model lineup. The latest addition is the new Tiggo 8 Pro LS, which now serves as the entry point into Chery's seven-seat SUV range.
The LS replaces the Tiggo 8 Pro 1.6TGDI 290T Executive+ to become the base offering of the model range, and it features not only a new fascia, but Chery cements that even though it will be positioned as the base, it will still be as feature-rich as its competitors in terms of price point, whilst being on par with Chery standards.
The LS gains a new fascia design

One thing Chinese manufacturers have become known for is their willingness to constantly refine their products, even when the changes appear relatively minor. The front of the vehicle changes from the entire model lineup as this debuts a sportier front-end that consists of a bigger grille with integrated LED elements all the while being flanked by new full-width LED headlamps.
They're not merely there for styling, either. Chery says these set of lights are the upgraded lighting package which includes automatic LED headlights, daytime running lights, and fog lights, while heated exterior mirrors add further convenience in wet or misty conditions. For those who love a bit of color in their live, the upgraded Tiggo 8 Pro LS is available in three exterior colours: New Khaki White, New Carbon Black and Tech Gray.
The cabin is going to be a familar affair for Chery lovers

The Tiggo 8 Pro LS features dual 12.3-inch digital displays, combining a digital instrument cluster with a central infotainment touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, along with Bluetooth, Intelligent Voice Command, front and rear USB ports and an upgraded 50-watt wireless smartphone charger.
Niceties like synthetic leather upholstery, electrically adjustable front seats, driver’s seat memory, four-way electric lumbar support for the driver, heated and ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror are still including in this packaging. The second and third rows will also benefit from the inclusion of a second-row air-conditioning outlet and third-row independent air conditioning, so no fighting over the AC on long trips.

Since this is a seven seater, space is a big talking point. Luckily, the Tiggo 8 LS carries with it a great sense of practicality. Measuring 4,745 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width and 1,705 mm in height, with a 2,710 mm wheelbase, the Tiggo 8 Pro LS is set to offer generous cabin space across all three rows. Luggage space is rated at 117 litres with all seats up, expanding to 739 litres with the third row folded.
Safety is a standard procedure with Chery
No stranger to an improved safe space for all occupants, the Chery Tiggo 8 has been tested by major international safety facilities, including Euro NCAP and ANCAP. It initially received a 4-star rating in July 2025 due to a side curtain airbag deployment issue, but after Chery fixed the manufacturing fault, it was reassessed and achieved a top 5-star safety rating later in October 2025.
This LS variant is no exception since Chery have crammed it will all the latest in safety tech and suites including a 540-degree HD panoramic camera system that is supported by front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, door-open warning and rear collision warning.
The LS also receives a comprehensive suite of driver assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring and traffic congestion assist.
“The new Tiggo 8 Pro LS reflects Chery’s focus on giving South African families more comfort, more technology and more reassurance in a package that remains accessible,” said Verene Petersen, National Marketing Manager at Chery South Africa. “Customers are increasingly looking for vehicles that make daily life easier, whether that is through intelligent safety, flexible space, modern connectivity or small convenience features that improve every journey. This trim level responds directly to those needs.”

The upgraded Chery Tiggo 8 Pro LS is priced at R499,900, which includes Chery’s 5-year/150 000 km vehicle warranty, 10- year/1 million km engine warranty for the first owner and a 5-year/75 000 km service plan.
The Tiggo 8 Pro LS is also supported by Chery’s Trans-national Warranty Programme under the Chery Family Care umbrella. This allows customers to access warranty-related support at authorised Chery service centres across Chery’s global markets, providing added reassurance for owners who travel across borders or relocate internationally.
