We were dressed to the nines to join the new emerging car brand Jetour at the Sunbet Arena, as they were keen to show us their newest electrified T series range. That's right, the T1 and T2 duo is now available with extra range, lower fuel running costs, and a vehicle-to-load function, all still at a relatively friendly cost.
We were introduced to the new T1 and T2 I-DM, which gain plug- in hybrid capabilities. This is still spearheaded by the popular 1.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine we see in most Chinese automakers; however, the power outputs differ between the two cars. The T1 pairs the 1.5L engine with just one electric motor and an 18. 4 kWh battery pack. This allows the T1 to output a total figure of 250 kW and 530 Nm, which will be driving the front wheels only (on both vehicles).
The bigger T2 takes the 1.5L and ups the dosage to add 2 electric motors, which have a total combined output of 265 kW and 650 Nm . Both vehicles are claimed to produce a range of 1200 km, granted that both batteries and engines are filled up to the brim. As far as charging the batteries is concerned, both vehicles will be able to charge up via DC charging, enabling a 30-80% recharge in under 30 minutes, and ultra-low fuel consumption from just 1.1 L /100 km.

The interior of the T series vehicles contains a combination of high-quality materials, a smart layout, and some class-leading technology, as can be identified by the dual-screen displays that allow for phone connectivity, wireless charging, ambient lighting, a high-end Sony audio system, and a plethora of the latest ADAS features to keep you and yours safe while on the go.
From initial monthly sales over 400 units in 2024 to over 1 700 units now, Jetour South Africa has achieved rapid and remarkable success. “This is not just a number, it reflects the strong support from all our partners here, including dealers, banks, logistics providers, and media, and it is also the best testament to South African consumers’ trust in and love for Jetour,” says Yuan.
