After being introduced for less than a year under the Stellantis group, Leapmotor is officially expanding its local lineup with the addition of the B10 Hybrid EV. Think of a C10 Hybrid EV but in a more compact setup that still caters to those who are looking to transition to electrification with complete confidence.
Built on the LEAP 3.5 technological platform, which has gained some positive traction in global markets, this means that the people of Mzansi should be ready to expect a seamless connected experience through the Leapmotor App, enabling remote vehicle management, real-time vehicle monitoring, charging scheduling, and over-the-air (OTA) software updates. The connected experience is further enhanced by Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, providing seamless access to smartphone-based navigation, media and communication services.

The powertrain that was somewhat pioneered by the bigger
Whilst the world reaped the benefits of Range Extended Electric Vehicles, we fell behind slightly, but this was quickly rescued by Leapmotor in the form of the C10. For the first time, a South African was able to buy a vehicle that used both petrol and electric power, but not in the traditional hybrid manner we had been used to.
The B10 continues that marvel setup which comprises of a 1.5-liter gasoline engine never drives the wheels directly as it acts solely as a generator, producing electricity when the battery level requires it. The package produces 160 kW of power and 240 Nm of torque.
The electric components of the B10 are classified by an 18.8 kWh battery offering up to 86 km of pure electric range and when paired to the engine, the claimed combined output range will go up to 900 km. Leapmotor claims a combined fuel consumption of just 0.9 L/100 km, the B10 delivers an efficient balance between electric mobility and long-distance driving capability.
