Launched back in 2013 and locally in 2015, the Captur is one car that fell victim to the large influx of Chinese automakers into our market by being overshadowed however, the French stable has given the car a well-needed update in what they believe will bring more va-va-voom to the nameplate and brand. We attended the launch to find out just what these upgrades are.

The exterior benefits from the new Renault design language, starting at the front where the fascia adopts the same look as the all-electric MEGANE E-TECH ELECTRIC, with the addition of new LED headlights and a redesigned grille that debuts a new Renault grille. There are new LED daytime running lights that take on a vertical half-diamond shape, inspired by the brand logo.

For the purpose of engine cooling, the front end features a horizontal air intake above the splitter, with another in the bumper. Two air inlets positioned on either side of the front end, next to the daytime running lights, contribute to aerodynamics and to the cooling of the front brakes.

For this new generation, all Capturs will be available in a two-tone colorway with a black roof, A-pillars, and door pillars . The side profile remains unchanged but gains from new wheel designs like the 17-inch alloy wheels, 18-inch Black Hole alloy wheels, or 19-inch Elixir wheels, as can be seen on this top-of-the-range model.

The New Renault Captur is available in five attractive colors, which include Arctic White, Flame Red, Iron Blue, Oyster Grey, and the newly introduced Urban Grey. Although this is an all-new car, we later learned that it is more of a facelift, with most of its inner workings still remaining the same, like the engine, chassis, and gearbox.

Next up is the interior, which now has wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay via the new 10.4-inch portrait-style infotainment system that is very crisp and responsive. Renault also took the time to point out that this screen has an integrated OpenR Link interface to allow for smoother searches and phone connections.

There is a high level of distinction for all of the different grades of the Captur model, as our launch vehicles, which are the top-of-the-range Esprit Alpine, which gain from an array of features like blue stitching, a blue-colored metal surface that spans the entire dashboard, and cloth and synthetic leather to align with the Green- Savvy initiative favored by Renault.
Some more interior adaptations are the multifunctional leather-wrapped steering wheel, a new digital driver's display, a wireless charging pad, a national flag in the side piping, seatbelts with blue top-stitching, aluminum-plated sports pedals, branded door sills, and an ergonomic steering wheel.
