With over 30 000 units sold in Mzansi, the Renault Triber has been a hit with both passenger and business (e-hailing) buyers looking for a value packed 7 seater. The updated model not only sees more features being added but the price has been reduced by as much as R10 000 compared to its predecessor. We attended its display launch in uMhlanga.

The new Triber is destined to become a firm favourite among families where space is of foremost importance, but it will also been sought after within the e-hailing space, as an affordable mobility solution. The changes up front are noticeable SUV inspired design with sporty accents for a stylish family SUV look. New Triber sports a new piano black grille, new sculpted bonnet design, redesigned bumpers (front & rear), advanced LED projector head lamps with integrated LED Daytime Running Lamps, as well as new LED tail lamps. Skid plates in brushed silver feature up front and at the back.

All models feature 15 inch wheel covers with the top spec Iconic getting Dual Tone paint finish covers that mimic alloy wheels in look. Roof rails are both a design feature and are functional as they allow owners to add carrying items on the roof with all 7 seats in use. LED tail lights are also offered as standard. Available in three distinct variants - Evolution, Techno, and Iconic, with three new colour options – Zanskar Blue, Grey and Terracotta Brown -alongside existing colours.

The interior enhancements include new upholstery options, a completely redesigned dashboard layout, offering a modern, dual-tone finish seamlessly integrated with an 8-inch floating touchscreen display, wireless smartphone charging and replication (Android Auto/ Apple CarPlay) and a digital instrument cluster. C-Type USB is also available for those needing cable connections or charging.

The interior retains the much loved 7 seat layout that can be tailored to suite carrying requirements from 7 people, 5 people with luggage or just all luggage with all seats folded flat. The heater/cooling system has air conditioning plus separate air controls and vents for the 2nd and 4rd row seats. The new Triber offers a refreshed driving experience, thanks to new safety features, including six airbags as standard across all variants, and a segment-first front parking sensor. Folding mirrors, auto rain sensing wipers, reversing camera, follow me home lights, cooled centre console and glove box aid functionality.

Powering the Triber is the tried and tested 1.0 litre 3-cylinder engine credited with 52kW at 6250rpm and a maximum torque of 96Nm at 3500rpm. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and an AMT option, enhancing driving comfort and convenience.
Designed with thoughtful enhancements, the new Triber is now available in three new variants: Evolution, Techno, and Iconic, with a 2-year/30 000km Service Plan and a standard 5-year/ 150 000km Warranty.
