The VW Tayron has landed in Mzansi and one would be making a mistake if they label it a 7 seat Tiguan as it offers more than that.

There are 3 spec models to choose from with a Base model, Life model and the R Line topping the range. Buyers have a myriad of options to tailor make their Tayron to their lifestyle. There is also the Black Style package offered exclusively for the Tayron R-Line include decorative body trim and attachments (including roof rails) in high-gloss black, Black diamond turned surface 20-inch alloy wheels, a front bumper in an individualised R-Line design and interior decorative trim in dark chrome look. Depending on the specification package, the Tayron can also be customised with a Leather package, Navigation Infotainment package and an IQ Package which includes Travel Assist and LED Matrix Headlights.

With a longer wheelbase compared to the Tiguan, the Tayron comes with a 5 seat configuration as standard with the 7 seat option also offered for the family buyer. Panoramic sunroof comes as an option for those seeking the night stars views when driving. LIGHT HD matrix headlights and the seats with a pneumatic 10-chamber pressure point massage function. All models come with an illuminated Volkswagen badge front and back.

Sharply drawn lines in the elongated silhouette emphasise the high design quality of the Tayron. The Tayron Life comes standard with an extensive equipment package. Among the features on board are a three-zone automatic air conditioner, 10-colour background lighting, nine airbags, driving experience control (which adjusts driving profiles), an infotainment system with App-Connect Wireless (for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto). The Life derivative also includes digital instruments, LED headlights with automatic main beam control (Light Assist).

The new Tayron will be offered with the 1.4 TSI 110kW engine mated to a 7-speed DSG transmission. The engine develops maximum torque of 250 Nm available between 1500 and 3500 rpm.
