If you add Trophy in any Renault RS model name, enthusiasts the world over rejoice and now we have the new Megan RS in Trophy trim…… kwashuba.

First thing to catch your attention is the Trophy only Liquid Yellow colour with reflective effects. In the front there are Trophy stripes added onto the F1 style blade, 19-inch Jerez wheels featuring a diamond-cut finish with red border. The rest of the design is similar to the Megane RS meaning wide-extended wheel arches that create a purposeful look, C shaped LED daytime lights with LED headlamps as standard. The rear gets a functional diffuser with a centrally mounted sports exhaust.

Rear LED lights also come standard and the overall look is that of a Hot hatch par excellence. Megane RS models now only come in 5 door configurations making the model appeal more as a daily, family car that also excels on track days.

The interior retains the functional interior layout as seen on latest Megane models with a large centrally mounted Infotainment Touchscreen that also allows controls of the drivetrain. New Alcantara finished Recaro seats are offered as an option whilst the structure of the original seat base has been revised (lowered) to offer drivers an even sportier feel, whilst maintaining a high level of safety. A red steering centre marker hints at the sporty side of the Trophy.

Powering the Megane Trophy is a revised version of the 1.8-litre Turbo 4-cylinder engine found in the Megane RS. This time it pushes 220kW/400Nm through the front wheels linked to either a 6 speed manual or 6 speed DCT Auto. In the DCT, torque rises to 420Nm. The 0-100km/h sprint is claimed at 5.7 seconds with a 260km/h top speed and an efficiency claim of 8.1l/100km. There is now an exhaust flap that enhances the sporty sound depending on driving mood (Multi Sense mode select). One of the defining traits of a Trophy is how it handles and Renault Sport has endowed their latest Trophy creation with all gizmos to ensure drivers get maximum fun behind the steering. 4Control is a four-wheel steering system that delivers outstanding agility through tight turns and impressive cornering stability at higher speeds. A Torsen® mechanical limited slip differential, the new calibration of which enables more precise entry to corners and improved traction when exiting corners.  25% firmer shock absorbers and 30% tighter springs and 10% stiffer anti-roll bars are all designed for maximum agility and dynamics. As standard, the TROPHY is fitted with Brembo bi-material front brakes. Bridgestone Potenza S001 tyres, renowned for offering a high level of grip comes standard.

Available in 2019, the lighter 19-inch Fuji Light wheels – reducing weight by 2kg per wheel – are fitted with Bridgestone Potenza S007 tyres. These tyres, a specific version of which has been developed for Renault Sport, provide New Mégane R.S. Trophy with even more direct steering, increased grip when cornering and greater durability for sports driving
