The Jaguar E-Pace has received notable exterior updates for 2020, along with a new flagship model that benefits from more than just a pretty face.

Mild exterior updates include a revised front end gaining a new front bumper that has been optimised for improved aerodynamics, revised lower aperture and new LED headlights with J-shaped LED daytime running lights. The updated front look also includes a new grille design. At the rear, the lower bumper features a new mesh insert which sits between the integrated tail pipes that are standard with four-cylinder petrol engines.

A fine balance between sophistication and sportiness has always been at the epitome of the E-Pace’s interior design, with new features further instilling such traits. These come in the form of a new 11.4inch curved-glass HD infotainment touchscreen that now runs via Jaguar’s latest PIVI Pro infotainment system joined by larger stowage compartments in the centre console, a new drive selector that houses the 15W wireless device charger, new steering wheel and ‘Jaguar Leap’ embossed headrests. Driver touchpoints around the cluster are now wrapped in soft touch materials for added comfort.

Significant updates to the body architecture also form part the list, allowing for a new electrified drivetrain to join the current E-Pace line-up. The new P300e comes in packing a 147kW 1.5litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine and an 80kW Electric Rear Axle Drive (ERAD) motor, both delivering a combined output of 227kW and can lay down the 0-100km/h sprint in 6.5seconds.

The 2.0litre 4-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine is now available in two power outputs, starting with a 184kW/365Nm version that has been headed up by a 221kW/400Nm variant which is available exclusively in the range topping 300 SPORT that benefits Active Damping, Adaptive Dynamics, Active Driveline and Configurable Dynamics. The 0-100km/h jolt is claimed at 6.9secs the all-wheel drive system has been mated to a standard 9-speed auto transmission. Also available is a D200 diesel variant, powered by a 147kW 2.0litre 4-cylinder turbo engine that drives all 4-wheels via a standard 9-speed auto transmission.

The exclusive P300 SPORT also benefits from distinct styling cues that include 20inch 5-spoke wheels, Black Exterior Pack and powered tailgate. On the inside, illuminated Jaguar treadplates, Meridian Audio, Ebony Suedecloth headlining and R-Dynamic Taurus Sport seats in Ebony, Cloud or Deep Garnet all help to set the 300 SPORT apart.

The new Jaguar E-PACE will be available in Mzansi in the first half of next year with pricing to be made available closer to the time. Stay tuned
