Bmw has done it again and they never disappoint. Bmw 4 series has officially hit the shores of uMzansi and it’s to die for.
We got the privilege to see it in the flesh at the launch, in The western cape,in Stellenbosch and take it for a memorable ride on the streets of Cape Town. Models that were available were the 420d and 440i M performance which was by far my favorite model with all the special sport features that come with it. The 420d will also be available in Mzansi.
The exterior is aggressive, muscular and most definitely track ready.. the sharper character in look greets you with standard slim led lights with a vertical kidney grille. We were driven on 19inch alloy wheels.. the side definitely has a wider stance and differentiated from the Bmw 3 series, with stretched side frameless windows. The rear has darkened slim Led lights with eye catching l shaped light bars.
The interior keeps it classy and trendy with a driver focused cockpit design, 10.25inch control display with intuitive features like hand gestures,Apple car play, android auto, navigation and most importantly “Hello BMW”. The driver is treated with a sporty leather steering wheel which is complimented with standard sport leather seats and knee pads on the center console (optional). A sliding/ tilting glass roof with transparent surface extended by 24mm in length, ambient lighting with welcome light carpet add to the already extensive list of features.
The 4 series is backed up with safety features such as heads up display which offers 70% larger projection surface, front collision with brake input and lane departure warning with lane return by means of steering assistance which now comes standard and speed limit info, park distance control with front and rear sensors also come as standard.
The new BMW 4-series is available with a choice of 3 engines; starting of the range is the 135kW/ 300Nm 420i Coupe powered by a 2,0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, followed by a 140kW/400Nm 420d Coupè that employs a 2,0-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel powertrain. The range topping 440i xDrive Coupe delivers a healthy 275kW and 500Nm from its turbocharged 3,0-litre straight-six powerplant.
