While there are many surprising vehicles getting the short end of the stick by being announced as unsafe vehicles that are failing to pass safety crash testing, Chery has come out to reassure the people of Mzansi that they are safe, as the Chery Tiggo 7 has achieved a five-star rating in the Euro NCAP crash test program.

This Tiggo 7 managed to achieve the following rating that showcase a strong performance across all key categories, including:
- Adult Occupant Protection: 82%
- Child Occupant Protection: 85%
- Vulnerable Road Users: 80%
- Safety Assist Systems: 78%
Euro NCAP testing confirmed that the passenger compartment remained stable during frontal offset testing, further resulting in good or adequate protection recorded for critical body regions in both front and full-width impact scenarios. We also learnt that Side-impact and pole tests demonstrated good protection across key areas, while the vehicle showed effective control of occupant movement under more severe side-impact conditions.
The Tiggo 7 further demonstrated strong performances in rear-impact testing, with the front seats and head restraints adding good protection against whiplash injuries. Some of the standard safety technologies, including post-collision braking support, which enhances protection beyond the moment of impact.
This performance results highlighted the Tiggo 7’s ability to provide protect for occupants, passengers, and other road users across a wide range of real-world conditions.
Safety was never an after though in the Tiggo 7 CSH to begin with because you see the vehicle did come already booted and suited with the latest safety assitant suite systems.
The vehicle is equipped with eight airbags as standard and a comprehensive suite of advanced driver-assistance systems that support both collision avoidance and mitigation. Its body structure incorporates approximately 60% high-strength steel, with key load-bearing areas reinforced using 1,500 MPa hot-formed steel to improve crash energy management.
For electrified variants, such as the Tiggo 7 CSH plug-in hybrid, the IP68-rated LFP battery is protected by a 780 MPa high-strength steel underplate, supported by continuous monitoring and rapid power isolation capability in the event of a collision. Along with achieving this good rating, it is also important to note that the Chery Tiggo 7 is a finalist in this year's coveted Car of the Year competition. As it looks to take on some fierce competition, it will be interesting to see just how good of an impression it makes, as we already know it has safety in its arsenal.
