The British stable has given us yet another special edition treat, but this time in the form of their latest Defender Octa, which gains the “Black” treatment. This brings exterior and interior changes to the car that are unique to the Black nameplate.
The Land Rover oval badge on the grille is now blacked out with a darkened silver script. The Octa Black features a crisp new headlight design that has a revised signature graphic, and flush rear lights with smoked lenses.

A choice of 20-inch forged wheels or 22-inch Gloss Black wheels is available, complete with black center caps and Shadow Atlas Defender script, while Gloss Black brake calipers showcase contrasting Sentient Silver script. Even underbody elements feature a Gloss or Satin Black finish, including the cover for the exhaust silencer and center box, as well as the optional electrically deployable towbar.

Thirty exterior elements are finished in either Gloss Black or Satin Black, along with the wheel and paint finish. Defender OCTA Black is finished in Narvik Black, the truest black in the Defender paint palette. Narvik Black is deep and dark, featuring a gloss finish as standard, with an optional Matte Protective Film. Paint colors include Sargasso Blue and Borasco Grey, in addition to Charente Grey and Petra Copper. A Patagonia White Matte Wrap will be available from late 2025.

A new 13.1-inch touchscreen provides even more intuitive infotainment control. Across the dashboard, the Cross Car Beam is finished in Satin Black Powder Coat, while an optional Chopped Carbon Fibre finish can be chosen for the interior details. The 15-speaker Meridian™ Surround Sound System features Body and Soul Seats (BASS), which allow those in the front row performance seats to feel the music they are listening to, as well as hear it.
Mark Cameron, Managing Director of Defender, said: “There’s no denying the presence and purpose of Defender OCTA: it’s the tallest and widest Defender, enabling it to tackle even more extreme terrain. The introduction of Defender OCTA Black takes things up a notch. We know our clients love giving their Defenders all-black finishes, so our designers have applied this principle to every possible surface—inside and out—to create the ultimate tough luxury Defender OCTA.”

Powering the Octa Black is a 467 kW of 4.4-litre Twin Turbo mild-hybrid V8 power which features a innovative 6D Dynamics suspension, and a dedicated OCTA Mode for performance off-road use, the Defender OCTA Black is priced from R 3,979,500 and is available in limited numbers with exclusive pre-configured curations.
