Ford has done what literally everyone would have wanted by releasing a "Race-bred" variant of the already powerful Dark Horse called the Dark Horse Street Cred. This isn't just a Mustang with stickers and fake flared arches that look lethal; no sir, this here is designed, engineered, and manufactured in-house from expertise hard-won on tracks around the world. The Mustang Dark Horse SC is the most advanced, powerful, and track-capable Mustang Dark Horse ever.

After experiencing quite a bit of interesting sales trouble, Ford CEO Jim Farley announced not long ago that the brand would be pulling away from fully immersing itself in the world of EVs and bringing back what they know best, which is fun cars. Since the announcement, we have seen Ford announce it would cancel several planned electric vehicle models, including a three-row electric SUV and a successor to the F-150 Lightning-due to lower-than-expected demand and high costs.

Which means the V8 lives on baby! And Supercharged at that because the new Mustang SC (Street Cred) will feature a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 that’s paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission but as far as we there aren't any disclosed figure as Ford will release the car’s official stats and the price later in the year.

It will be a precise track weapon as this will be based on off the other absolutely unhinged Mustang GTD, we know this because Ford decided to treat all customers to the next-generation MagneRide dampers that featuring upgraded hardware and software, as well as revised springs with firmer rates, new stabilizer bars, updated front and rear knuckles, and modified front control arms. Along with improvements in tire technology.

And if for some reason you want more out of your Mustang Dark Horse SC, you can up the ante of handling capability beyond by opting for an optional Track Pack takes the impressive cornering performance and capability of Dark Horse SC to an even higher level.

Opting for a Track package will gain you a ducktail-style design for improved downforce. The new rear decklid is the base for an updated carbon-fiber wing with exposed carbon endplates and lightweight carbon stanchions. The decklid itself improves the rear wing's efficiency by around 10 percent, custom Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires, and a Teal Accent Package that adds vibrant teal caliper brakes, badging, and seat belts.

This Mustang Dark Horse SC has a signature exterior that is menacing which contains enhanced elements like Brembo brakes - Six-piston front calipers and four-piston rears with cast discs are standard (You get upgraded Carbon Ceramics when opting for the Track Pack), a redesigned front bumper that consists of larger air opening for the grille and lower bumper.

The whole body of the Mustang Dark Horse SC is littered with exposed carbon fibre elements across the bumpers, bonnet, side skirts, rear lower bumper and spoiler whilst for shoes the horse gets Pirelli P Zero R rubber wrapped around 20-inch aluminum wheels.

Some more reworked bits that actually aid the vehicle in producing greater performance are the SC. The new front fascia features revised brake cooling, while a new aluminum hood that includes standard hood pins and a large vent improves powertrain cooling and helps manage front-end aerodynamics.

When the hood vent’s rain tray is removed, it creates 2.5 times the downforce of the standard Mustang Dark Horse hood vent, while the open area is 5 times greater. In the back, you will find a revised rear diffuser which contributes to improved rear axle cooling, along with a large belly pan that extends from the splitter to behind the front wheels to manage aerodynamics and brake cooling. Oh and four rectangular exhausts which are sure to leave ear drums bloody.

Inside the Dark Horse SC cockpit adopts the Mustang GTD’s leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel, featuring a 12 o’clock stripe and performance controls, surrounded by Alcantara and carbon-fiber accents.

Optional Recaro leather and Dinamica sport seats are included in the Track Pack, which offers Space Gray or Teal accents and replaces the rear seats with a storage shelf.

In the range for 2026, the Dark Horse SC lineup is topped with limited-run Track Pack Special Editions combining the Track and Carbon packages with a black-painted roof, Race Red Brembo calipers, unique graphics, and GTD-derived 3D-printed titanium accents. Available exclusively in Shadow Black or Oxford White, Track Pack Special Edition also features unique Solar Red accents on the Recaro seats.

Mustang Dark Horse SC will be available to order in spring 2026 with deliveries in the summer but sadly there are currently no plans to introduce the Mustang SC into the South African market. We will have to hope and pray that some units get the nod to come this way for sure.
