Ford has quietly added some enhancements to its commercial space by including a new all wheel drive system on their Tourneo buses and adding a new derivative called the Tourneo Custom Kombi which replaces the Tourneo Trend.

What is the new Turneo Custom Kombi ?

This is a new derivative, which Ford says will put a key focus on being designed to meet all the needs of family, business, and fleet applications, led by a 2.0-litre SiT diesel engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The Custom Kombi is basically here to offer a more budget-friendly car that will be open to more customers for purchase. This has been achieved by reshuffling the spec sheet of the car, doing away with some of the luxury "nice-to-haves" from the old Trend, like adaptive cruise control, tri-zone climate control, and heated front seats.

Although it losses out on those niceties do not be shook, it still comes with a good set of equipment and especially, storage space in the interior. The Ford Tourneo Custom Kombi comes with a fixed eight-seater configuration and entertainment is handled by a large 13-inch central touchscreen that supports Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™.

The exterior of the Turneo Custom Kombi includes Daytime Running Lights, and optional 16-inch alloy wheels can be fitted.

The change lower down means the Titanium models gains everything as the top of the range derivative

When you decide to opt for the top of the range model which is the Titanium, Ford has given the derivative an adaption of all wheel drive systems. Still powered by a  2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, producing 125kW of power and 390Nm power is now distributed to all tyres according to available grip, helping the vehicle maintain traction on surfaces such as wet roads, gravel and other low-grip conditions.

The interior of the Titanium has an eight seats which can be configured to also be turned around creating a rear-facing conference-style space. The space is certainly more posh than the lower specs which can be seen by  a 14-speaker B&O sound system, a full-length panoramic moon roof and when you max out the options list by taking up the Lux pack you have heated second-row seats.

The exterior of the AWD is largely identical to the Ford Titanium X, distinguished by 19-inch alloy wheels and premium styling details including AWD badging and complemented by Matrix LED headlights for advanced illumination. Six drive modes; (Normal, Eco, Slippery, Tow/Haul, Sport and Trail) enhance the vehicle’s broader versatility.

Safety features in the Titanium grade include Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pre-Collision Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go and Lane Centring, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Information System (BLIS), Rear Cross-Traffic Alert with Reverse Brake Assist and a 360-degree camera system.
