Our schedule was fully booked back-to-back at the Festival of Motoring for Media, but a standout from the GAC stand brought much attention to their bold MPV that will soon be available to the public. This is the new GAC M8, which is set to take over the luxury people-mover segment by storm.

The M8 has an unmistakable massive chromed grille , which is accompanied by LED headlights and daytime running lights that flank the fascia and give the car a "look at me" nature about it.

The Chinese never skimp on adding chrome elements to their vehicles , and it is seen as the car has chrome windowsills, door handles, 18-inch rims, mirror cap surrounds, and even on some parts of the interior.

There are electronically operated sliding doors on either side of the vehicle that allow for easy entry, and for all those wealthy clients who will be transported and don't want the fuss of being noticed, the car comes with privacy glass all around .

The back is also a sight to behold, as it is dominated by a now very popular design feature in most vehicles , which is a rear light bar that features LED daytime running light elements, finished off by a brushed aluminum lower bumper.

The unit on showcase features a very bright orange interior that seats five people in a two captain's chair and one bench layout and is dominated by massive screens and chrome switchgear.

Powering this shouty bus will be a 2.0l petrol engine PHEV with 274 kW and 630 Nm, also in the mix is a 26 kWh battery pack that offers a claimed all-electric range of 106 km and a combined figure of 1000 km of range. Pricing was not announced, but we're expecting some communication closer to local launch timing.

GAC were in a cheerful mood as they also showed us their all-electric compact SUV that will have around 400km of range on a full charge. It will have 150kw and 225nm. More specifics should be announced later in the year by GAC.
