Toyota Mzansi has added a limited edition Hilux Dakar that also introduces a new facelift design only on this model.
The front gets a mild but highly noticeable front redesign with a large hexagonal grille design that works much better than on the standard model. The grille is finished in gloss black with grey accents around it. LED headlights with LED daytime lights come standard whilst the lower front bumper gets a new air intake design with LED fog lamps moved further out into the corners of the bumper. 18inch wheels, black side steps, mirrors and door handles finished in gloss black with Dakar decals on the front door. Slight changes can be seen at the back bumper.
Dakar models only come in Double Cab and Xtra Cab configuration only.
Not much has changed in terms of the interior layout (not necessarily a bad thing this) with the most noticeable change coming from the instrument cluster, which gets a new design. The information screen on the cluster now gets a nice welcome graphic of the Dakar Hilux. Partial leather seats come standard with leather trim for the gearshift and multi function steering wheel. The Navigation touchscreen, reversing camera are noted as standard with entertainment catered by the 6-speaker USB/Radio/Bluetooth/DVD/CD system. Climate control, cruise control and all electric windows also come standard.
Hilux Dakar models come with 2 engine choices, 2 transmission options and 4×2 or 4×4 drive systems. Diesel models get the 130kW 2.8-litre GD-6 Turbo diesel engine with 430Nm on the 6 speed manual and 450Nm on the 6 speed auto. Topping the range is the 4.0-litre petrol V6 model credited with 175kW/375Nm coming only in 4×4 6-speed automatic specification. A diff lock comes standard on all models.
The normal suite of technologies as seen on Raider models handles safety. Dakar models only comes in 4 colour options namely Glacier white, Chromium Silver, Graphite Grey Metallic and Inferno Metallic (see above image).

All models come with a 5-year/90-000km-service plan and a 3-year/100-000km warranty. Service intervals are 10 000km for all models.
