Hyundai Brazil has just shown off the new generation i20 hatchback, which gains a radical new styling on the exterior, new engine options, various upgrades in interior materials and technology, and some growth in dimensions.
The i20 gains a fresh new look

The current generation i20 continues to split the masses in terms of whether it looks good or not, with most saying it needs to wear the N Line badge to look good. Hyundai has heard those chats and decided to give it a new look, which we feel looks good regardless of the chosen spec. You see, the new i20 gains a new fascia that consists of a lightbar that spans the entire semi-closed face, connecting the two new LED running lights.

The car also gains new dimensions, which Hyundai Brazil calls Crossover styling, as the car grows by 118 mm and 5 mm wider. The car's new dimensions measure 4113 mm in length and 1780 mm in width, but it still somehow maintains the original wheelbase of 2850 mm. The side profile changes visually too, as we see a new tucked rear door design that supports more of a sloping roof effect, accompanied by these new two-tone 18-inch alloy wheels.

The rear of the vehicle will also adopt the same light bar-inspired design that spans the whole boot lid, just like what you get on the new fascia of the vehicle. Altogether, the back is still the more familiar i20 hatchback we know, which is accompanied by new design lower bumpers that have a sort of diffuser situation happening.
The hood gains some engine to choose from

From launch, the new i20 was shown to be available either with a 1.0L TGDI or a 1.0 MPI Kappa 3-cylinder engine. The 1.0L TGDI will be the latter option that produces 85 kW and 172 Nm, whilst the entry-level option will produce 55 kW and 93 Nm. Although we in Mzansi may be likely to receive a 1.2L 4-cylinder from the current Indian-built range that supplies us.
Interior gains?

The interior finally adopts the dual-screen setup that comprises two 12.3-inch digital displays for instrumentation and for the driver, a digital infotainment system. Furthermore, here you will find a six - speaker system, automatic air conditioning, six airbags, and a dual-tone interior, based on what we can see from the launch images.

Some more additions are in the interior and to the drive of the vehicle : Hyundai's Safety Sense Suite, a reverse-view camera combined with parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assistance.
