The other half of Omoda, Jaecoo has announced a growth in sales while claiming that this year has already been quite successful for the brand. JAECOO recorded 2,771 sales in South Africa during the first seven months of 2026, building on the local presence it has developed since entering the market three years ago.

Leading South African data company, Lightstone Auto, also supports the current solid performance being exhibited by the brand by releasing that they managed to show that 1,935 J5s and 836 J7s were sold between January and July. JAECOO achieved its highest monthly total of the period in July, with 481 vehicles sold. This comprised 367 J5s and 114 J7s.

July's performance saw a combined output sale of 394 vehicles in June and marked the second consecutive month of growth for the brand. This puts the brand not only on the same level of impact as OMODA but also in competition with other Chinese brands that have already gained good sales in the country.

“Over the past three years, JAECOO has built a firm foundation in South Africa, supported by a growing customer base and an expanding model range,” said Hans Greyling, General Manager of OMODA & JAECOO South Africa, and iCAUR South Africa.

“The J5 has broadened the brand’s appeal, while the J7 remains an important part of our local offering. Its performance in an established international market such as the UK adds further weight to what we are seeing locally and gives us confidence in JAECOO’s continued growth in South Africa.”

The popularity is not just exeprienced in South Africa alone because the JAECOO brand has done well abroad, the UK to be more specific. The JAECOO J7 has went as far as to earn a spot as the best-selling new passenger car in the UK for March 2026, by selling 10,064 units in March 2026, beating its closest rival by 70%.

The UK figures also provide insight into the J7’s customer base. Private buyers account for 66% of registrations, while the SHS-P plug-in hybrid derivative has been selected by 75% of customers. Its position in the sales rankings has therefore been supported by a substantial retail component, rather than fleet registrations alone

Now, with an expansion of the brand's portfolio through the introduction of the JAECOO J5 in both traditional ICE engine and NEV setups, JAECOO seems determined to build upon this steady momentum on an international front, especially on an African scale. The J5 is positioned to become JAECOO's principal volume model since joining the local range. Meanwhile, the J7 will continue to contribute to sales in the medium SUV segment.
