Kia has just introduced an upgraded Sonet model range, which gains improved safety systems, additional airbags, and more amenities that will debut across the model range as standard equipment.
Plenty of upgrades to discuss but mainly the issue of safety
The most significant point of the model upgrade is the introduction of a new LS+ model derivative that will come equipped with six airbags. This means that buyers will no longer be forced to purchase higher up in the range to gain a comprehensive safety suite. It is quite interesting to see the move after the Sonet caught fire for performing poorly in the Global NCAP crash test back in June this year.
Sunroof for everybody
Kia did not stop at bringing in a more attainable and safe derivative; they also made more equipment standard along the entire range. On the exterior of all the Sonets, you will find Kia's iconic styled wheels, LED daytime running lights, and two-tone colors, just to name some standard equipment.
The SX model derivatives will now gain new standard equipment additions, such as a BOSE sound system, whilst the EX models will be led by the addition of a standard sunroof. Electronic Stability Control and Hill-start Assist Control are to remain standard across the range. At the top of the range, the SX maintains Kia's advanced driver assistance systems and a 10.25-inch HD display, now paired with the BOSE sound system.
Engine
The Kia Sonet employs a 1.5 MPI petrol engine produces 85 kW and 144 Nm, available with a five-speed manual or CVT automatic transmission. Ground clearance is 190 mm with luggage capacity of 385 litres.
