Members of the media were invited by LDV South Africa for a reveal of a special Bakkie offering that will soon launch. Meet the all-new Terron 9.
LDV South Africa did disclose that the official launch of the vehicle will happen on 28th August 2025 at The Festival of Motoring.
At first glance, the Bakkie has a massive grille that embodies the typical Ute design seen in the States, there are also T-shaped LED daytime running lights and a lower bumper that features two tow hooks finished in a cladding cover. The wide wheel arches are filled by lifestyle-oriented alloy wheels.
Speaking of cladding, the whole car is wrapped in cladding that gives it a further rugged aesthetic. The rear is by far the best-looking part, as it features LED lights that have four bars in them, reminiscent of the Porsche Mission X concept car lights.
The tailgate is the star of the show, as it has a step and a bench feature integrated into it for better access into the load bay and a comfortable place to sit.
The interior? Well, that was also kept a secret until the day of the launch, of course. Overall, LDV South Africa aims to position this big Bakkie “as a Bakkie with bold personality and a striking exterior that demands attention upon arrival.”
“Exciting times are near as we prepare to launch the Terron 9 at the end of August, starting off with an exclusive sneak peek. We are excited to bring this powerhouse to the South African market , ” expressed Bevan Nel, CEO of LDV South Africa.
The Terron 9 will enter South Africa’s highly contested double-cab segment with a claimed robust capability, and refined luxury features. The Terron will be offered in three variants : the Elite, Luxury, and Premium models.
As some specifics were more or less kept under wraps , LDV did disclose that the big Bakkie will be powered by a 2.5L turbo-diesel engine, but power figures weren’t revealed.
At the moment , LDV offers their now very popular T60 Bakkie, which starts at R480,000 and tops out at R740 ,000. If we had to predict the pricing, we think the newest Terron 9 might reach just under a million rand pricing but it remains to be seen.
