The LBX is a hybrid SUV that creates a new entry point for those looking at enjoying premium SUV. It creates a new segment below the UX which means it slots in below the X1, GLA & Q3 segment.
The new front facia of Lexus, the "Unified Spindle" blends functionality with captivating aesthetics. LED headlights should come standard and based on the launch images, the LED daytime lights are neatly integrated in the headlight cluster.
Front fog lamps are placed either side of lower part of the grille.
The LBX has dynamic proportions with tires that defy the norms of conventional compact cars. There is a dual tone colour with the roof painted in black. There is a chrome line that runs from the from the A pillar to the C pillar. Alloy wheels range from 17 to 18 inch in sizes.
A rear design accentuating a simple, planted stance with a low center of gravity. There is an LED light that runs the width of the rear. There is a sporty spoiler with SUV design accents from the back.
An interior design with refinement reserved for higher class vehicles, An engaging cockpit prioritising driving enjoyment with ambient illumination creating a warm and inviting interior. There is a 12.3-inch full LCD display meter giving the driver all driving and car info. A heads up display is optionally offered but the 9.8-inch info touchscreen comes standard.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is offered with wireless connection whilst a wireless charger should be offered as standard. For the lovers of clear music, the LBX comes with a 13 speaker Mark Levinson, along with a subwoofer. Controls for the climate controls it neatly below the info screen for easy operations when driving.
Powering the LBX is a 100kW/185Nm 1.5-litre 3-cylinder Hybrid engine that drives either the front or all wheels depending on spec model. 0-100km/h is claimed in 9.2 seconds.
No word yet on whether this model will come to Mzansi but if it does, it will represent a market breakthrough for the Premium Lexus brand with a younger market the target.
