Mini Aceman launched in Mzansi

The Aceman is the electric only smaller variant of the Mini Countryman offering versatility and low maintenance costs for SUV buyers.

Mini Mzansi has added a stylish, versatile electric SUV to its already extensive range in Mzansi. The Aceman is a new model in Mzansi with close ties to the bigger electric Mini Countryman. We attended its launch at the City of Gold.

The front gets the hexagonal grille design as seen on the latest Mini design. Just like with most EVs, the grille is enclosed with the Aceman SE getting an S signature. There is a matt grey surround which adds flair to the design. LED Headlights are standard across the range and these feature LED Daytime Lights in square design. The daytime lighting varies it’s illumination style depending on how the driver sets them up, giving the Aceman a unique LED Daytime Running Light look depending on owner preference at any time. The lower bumper gets air intake to cool the batteries whilst the skid plates in silver add to the SUV design.

Varying design alloy wheels and sizes, ensure Aceman buyers can tailor make their Aceman to suit their lifestyle design preference. There is a black lower moulding that goes around the Aceman that not only adds to the design but also allows ease of repair in case of scratch and dents. The two tone design is also offered whilst roof rails ensure added practicality for those carrying the trendy “Thule” carry box. The rear gets LED lights in GB Flag pattern whilst the lower bumper also gets skid plates. The boot is wide thus enhancing loading of luggage.

Setting a trend in interior design, MINI introduces a minimalistic layout highlighted by a round OLED display with a 240 mm diameter.

This new central instrument, encased in high-quality glass, allows users to operate all infotainment and assistance systems conveniently via touch or voice command with “HEY MINI.” The MINI Experience Modes enhance the cockpit’s ambiance with a combination of visual design, ambient lighting, and sound design. Furthermore, all driving functions can be controlled using the characteristic MINI toggle bar. The dash layout differs to that of the Countryman and features fabric material finish for a lasting, enviro feel. Sports seats ensure the front passengers are held wellcwhen the Go Kart handling characteristics of the Mini are put to the test.

Rear seating is for 3 occupants whilst the multi layout allows ease of loading extra length items or simply fold all rear seat flat for added luggage space.

The Aceman allows numerous adjustment options to enable its boot capacity to be extended individually to as much as 1,005 litres.

The Aceman S comes with 135kW/ 290Nm of power with a range of 305km and a 7.9 sec sprint to 100km/h from rest. The Aceman SE has a range of 406km with power figures pegged at 160kW and a 0-100km/h time of 7.1 sec. The Mini/BMW Wallbox charger (see above) comes standard (no additional cost to owner) and is fitted by an accredited installer courtesy of BMW SA.
