BMW has lifted the wraps from its new Mzansi bound 7-series luxury sedan, hosting a sharper and more profound design set to intimidate the likes of the Mercedes Benz E-class and Audi A7… Isukile!!
The new 7-series seems to have taken a rather ‘extra-large’ approach to its exterior design, with the front end benefitting from a larger single-piece grille flanked by newly designed headlights with LED technology, a newly designed front bumper with large trim surfaces and chrome edging, whilst the larger BMW badge sits prominently on the newly designed bonnet. The side profile is characterized by the newly designed front wings with new upright air breathers, new alloy wheels, and acoustic insulated rear wheel arches and windows.
The rear benefits from slimmer 3D rear lights with a full-width light strip below the chrome bar, whilst the newly designed wider exhaust tailpipe trim completes the rather ‘extra’ look of the 7-series.
The luxury interior benefits from a new multifunction steering wheel, a floating screen with BMW’s 7.0 operating system featured as standard, diamond quilted Nappa leather seats and new trim strips that add elegance to the revised dashboard.
Optional convenience features that complement the high-quality interior include wireless charging tray, a Bowers and Wilkins diamond 3D surround system and a rear entertainment system with two 10inch touchscreen displays.
A revised engine line-up confirmed for Mzansi is as follows:
- 730Ld – 195kW/620Nm 3.0-litre straight 6 Turbodiesel (0-100km/h in 6.2 seconds, 250km/h top speed. 5.5l/100km)
- 745Le xDrive – 290kW/600Nm 3.0-litre straight 6 Turbopetrol with electric motor (0-100km/h in 5.3 seconds, 250km/h top speed. 2.3l/100 with 55 km electric range)
- 750Li xDrive – 390kW/750Nm 4.4-litre V8 Turbopetrol (0-100km/h in 4.1 seconds, 250km/h top speed. 9.6l/100km)
- M760 xDrive – 190kW/600Nm 6.6-litre V12 Turbopetrol (0-100km/h in 3.8 seconds, 250km/h top speed. 12.5l/100km)
xDrive models feature BMW’s All-wheel-drive system. All models come standard with BMW’s 8-Speed Steptronic transmission. The new BMW 7-Series will be launched in Mzansi in the 2nd Quarter of 2019.
