The day has finally arrived! The much-anticipated Citroen C3 “World Car” dubbed B-Segment contender has finally hit Mzansi soil, boasting not just a fresh new look, but a whole new design DNA that should appeal to a wider and a more vibrant audience.

The new Citroen C3’s vibrant look has been influenced by the new “C Cubed Citroen programme”, which affords distinct design elements that include a high bonnet line, flared wheel arches, standard daytime-running lights, front skid-plates and roof rails that complete the overall SUV characteristics of the C3. Optional accessory packs are also available for a more individual touch for those that appreciate being unique and bold.

The interior boasts a functional design that has been spiced up to complement the stylish exterior design. Distinctive features include uniquely designed air-vents, a two-tone dashboard finish, a standard 10inch infotainment screen, heightened seating position upfront as well as a cinema-style seating layout at the rear. The cabin is spacious enough for four seated passengers with convenience features including wireless Android Auto, wireless Apple Car Play, front and rear USB ports, exceptional storage compartments and a high-quality sound system.

Underneath the bonnet is a 61kW/115Nm 1.2litre 3-cylinder engine that sends power to the front wheels via a standard 5-speed manual transmission. This is a single option unit that is available across the range, with a turbocharged powerplant and an automatic transmission yet to be confirmed for Mzansi. Fuel consumption is claimed at 5.6l/100km whilst CO2 emmisions sit at a low 113g/km

We were privileged to be part of a rather unique launch event of the new C3. This afforded us with a short duration of setting the city-zipper loose within its urban elements and it sure did deliver on expectations. Power delivery is very smooth and just enough to get you going at a decent pace. The cabin has been well insulated for wind noise and conveniently packed for long journey travel convenience despite being an urban compact hatch. The updated suspension delivers an exceptional ride quality across all road surfaces but does tend to display undue body roll under normal cornering and braking.

Safety and convenience features include driver and passenger air-bags, central locking, auto door locking while driving and safety kids locking for both back doors. ABS, EBD and rear PDC ensure safety across the two models on offer.
Overall, the new Citroen C3 offers a notable combination of style, performance, and advanced features. It's sure to be a hit with drivers who are looking for a fun and practical vehicle that stands out from the crowd.
