Mitsubishi Mzansi has launched the new Eclipse Cross to bolster its SUV line up in Mzansi
The Coupe like design Eclipse Cross features a double slat chrome grille with slim headlights featuring daytime running lights. A chrome line runs from the headlights to the lower air dam to the front fog lights in a C shaped design. Below the lower front air dam is an SUV inspired underbody protection skid plate.
The sides see standard 18-inch alloy wheels coming as standard with a rising waistline that gives the SUV that Coupe like design. Roof rails and wheel arch surrounds are finished in black for a contrasting look to the metallic paint options.
The rear gets chrome tailgate garnish and dynamic shaped rear lights neatly integrated with the rear screen. A spoiler sits above the screen with a high mounted stop light.
The interior gets a well laid out dashboard with a large infotainment touchscreen taking pride of place. A full-colour HUD comes standard. The tilt and telescopic leather steering wheel has audio and cruise control buttons with shift paddles placed behind it for ease of reach. Leather seats, electric windows, Bluetooth connection with voice control, auto air con with rear air vents, slide and tilt-adjustable rear seats with a 60/40 folding split, heated front seats with electric adjustment for the driver are amongst the standard items.
Powering the Eclipse Cross model is a 110kW/198Nm 2.0-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated motor linked to a CVT gearbox that has 6 step sports mode (mimics gear shifts). Buyers can choose from either a front wheel drive or an all-wheel-drive. All-wheel drive models have drive modes (Snow, Gravel or Auto). Fuel efficiency claims are 7.9 ℓ/100 km (combined cycle) for the 4×2 and 8.1 ℓ/100km for the AWD derivative. The 4×2 derivative has a fuel tank of 63 litres while that of the AWD comes to 60 litres.
