Introducing the new Opel Mokka, updated for the 2025 year, and this new model launches two distinctive derivatives which Opel claims will continue to excite South African customers.

The new Mokka receives a fresh Opel Vizor aesthetic on the appearance front. There are significant visual changes, mainly with both the front and rear bumpers undergoing design updates that were made to improve aerodynamics.

The ECO LED headlights have also been updated with a new magnifying glass, allowing the lights to illuminate in a manner similar to Matrix Intelli-Lux LED headlights. The new Mokka Edition gains 17-inch alloy wheels, while the GS Line is differentiated by 18-inch rims. At the rear, you find very thin, elongated lights with LED technology, and the boot lid features new Opel badging.

The car comes equipped with front and rear parking sensors, lateral parking sensors, and a rear-view camera for convenient parking. Safety specifications remain comprehensive, as both models feature front and rear parking sensors, with GS Line models additionally including lateral parking sensors and a rear-view camera for easy parking.

We recently saw the updated Opel Mokka in the flesh at the launch of the larger Grandland SUV.

The side mirrors are heated for morning frost, electrically adjustable, and they incorporate Blind Spot Warning functions.

The interior now features a driver’s digital display cluster, standard-sized at 10 inches, alongside a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system powered by Qualcomm technology, which supports wired Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and navigation that comes standard with the new Mokka, along with a wireless charger.

Other key features include an updated steering wheel that boasts the new OPEL badge, heated seats as standard, the eToggle gear knob, and the electronic parking brake. There is also a smart frameless electro-chrome rear-view mirror that ensures that the driver isn’t dazzled by bright following lights.

From a safety perspective, the car has nearly all the boxes ticked, as it includes Blind Spot Warning functions, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, and pedestrian detection.

This updated Mokka will be available with two derivatives, namely the Edition and the top-of-the-range GS Line. It features a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox that delivers 96kW and 230Nm. Opel also claims a fuel consumption of 6.1 l/100 km.

Pricing is as follows: Opel Mokka 1.2T Edition R519,900 and Opel Mokka 1.2T GS Line R564,900.

The new OPEL Mokka comes standard with a five-year/100,000 km warranty and roadside assistance. Service intervals are every 12 months or 15,000 km but are covered by the Mokka’s three-year/60,000 km service plan.
