VW has taken the wraps off the eagerly awaited Polo GTI at the same time as the standard Polo unveil. Its got a 147kW 2.0litre TSI engine……Run Fiesta ST, Clio RS…Run.

The design is unmistakable GTI with LED lights, red strip running from the grille to the LED light housing, honeycomb grille and lower air intakes with fog lights. GTI unique 18inch wheels are offered with GTI badging on the side sills. The rear gets LED tail lights, roof mounted spoiler, twin exhaust (Vrrrr phaa) and a diffuser.

The interior gets the classy new Polo design and layout with sporty GTI touches added. The flat bottomed-steering with red stitching and a GTI engraving. Sports seats, leather gear knob with red stitching plus sporty pedals ensure you know this is the GTI spec Polo.
The engine on offer is the 2.0litre TSI engine from the Golf 7 GTI but detuned to 147kW but that’s enough to make this Polo one of the powerful offerings in its segment. Driving dynamics should be top drawer with the lighter MQB platform and Active Chassis Control ensuring maximum driving fun. Drive will be to the front via VWs new 7-Speed DSG transmission.
Polo GTI will likely be publicly unveiled at the Frankfurt Motorshow in September will local availability either late 2017 or early 2018.
