With the State of Motoring 2026 in a month's time Toyota decided to waste no time in giving us the local pricing for the updated Corolla GR.

Changes to the exterior and interior are minimal if there are any at all, there is a new carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) roof and bonnet vents, bi-LED auto-high-beam headlamps, 18-inch alloy wheels, and those three singular tailpipes we all love.

The interior gains synthetic leather-and-suede upholstery, adaptive cruise control and a head-up display. Some more things to note is that the model lineup will only be available in high-pec Circuit models meaning that the Core version will fall away. Oh and yeah, the car now costs a bar to purchase.

The headline of the story is that you can know drive off in a self shifting Corolla GR as it was previously made exclusively with a manual transmission. That's right you are now afforded the two-padel option of a 8 speed automatic transmission complete with a dedicated oil cooler, and this will help the same 1.6l three cylinder find gears "rapidly." But if you still want to take matters into your own hands..and a foot than you can still get yourself a manual 6 speed box, you might want to hurry since they will offered in limited numbers.

The engines power figures remain unchanged at 221kw but torque figures get 30 more nm pushing the figure to 400nm. Of course there have been some slight under the body changes that comprise of revised shock absorbers, a raised trailing-arm mounting point, tweaked rear coil springs, braking and steering systems, as well as some improved chassis rigidity.
Pricing for this new GR Corolla will sit as follows :
- Toyota GR Corolla 1.6T Circuit 6MT – R985 200
- Toyota GR Corolla 1.6T Circuit 8AT – R1 010 700
The prices above include Toyota SA Motors’ 3-year/100 000 km warranty and a 9-service/90 000 km service plan.
