We all love the intoxicating acoustics produced by a high-revving, performance-oriented vehicle because it makes one feel more connected to the driving experience. Porsche has then taken this common theory and adopted it on the 911 GT3 Touring and dropped the top just like they did with the GT2 RS Spyder. Oh, and of course, they've fitted it with ONLY a manual.

Introducing the latest GT3 S/C, which stands for Sport Cabriolet, a fancy term for "the roof goes down." The brand's first version of the newest 911 touring car is available with an electric drop-top, not to be mistaken with the Speedster, which had one of those manually operated cloth roofs that were so complicated to put on/take off that most just left it open.

Anyways, in a pact to combat the downward trends in terms of 911 sales, the smart Germans have added this variant of vehicle, so let us take a look at what this gains you. The first thing we learn is that this car is only for the driver and their one passenger, as the rear seats fall out and instead there is just a space or an optional cabinet to store helmets or some other goods. Oh, and the fabric drop top fully wraps under the body in just 12 seconds ; just make sure that you aren't doing 50 km /h. To minimize wind noise intrusion into the cabin, you can open up a wind deflector so that the only sound you hear is that flat-six.

Speaking of engine, the GT3 S/C gets 4.0l flat six cylinder that needs no assistance from a turbo or Supercharger, this outputs a healthy number of 357kW and 450nm. These numbers are good for a 0-60 km/h time of 2.7 seconds which puts it bang on par with the GT3 Coupe numbers. it reaches 0-100km in just 3.7 seconds and is said to top out at 313 km/h.
Here's where things get interesting because since the roof isn't that detachable tent but rather motorized, it would mean that this car gains a bit of meat on its body. However, the clever Germans have thought about this, so they have countered it by ensuring that the vehicle's hood, fenders, doors, and rear anti-roll bar are all made of high-quality yet light Carbon Fiber reinforced plastic. To shave some more weight off, they have done the same to the connecting links, optional bucket seats, and the underbody panel beneath the rear axle by making them out of the same Carbon Fiber reinforced plastic material.

Inside, you are met by Adaptive Sports Seats with an embroidered Porsche crest, a choice of four-tone braided leather seat center panels, and contrasting decorative stitching. Door handle loops of a red fabric, seat handles, and seatbelts are all finished in Guards Red. Floor mats also feature leather, while the cabin is centered by a special visual and tactile highlight: the darkened gear lever with its open-pore laminated wood gear knob and shift pattern displayed in Pyro Red.

Some more enhanced hardware on the exterior consists of the ever so famous centre-locking wheels that are forged from a light weight lightweight magnesium, that are measuring 20 inches in diameter on the front axle and 21 inches at the rear for better grip and handling a similar equation that is adapted from the 911 S/T. One can also choose to option out an Exclusive Manufaktur offer which gives you the optional Street Style Package. This package gains eye-catching decorative graphics on the front wings and ‘PORSCHE’ lettering on the sides of the vehicle are in the colour Pyro Red.

So you guessed it ; this will be a limited-number run GT3 S/C, which, like the Speedster, is only available with a short-ratio six-speed manual sports transmission."The emotive powertrain of the 911 GT3 comes into its own even more emphatically when driving with the roof down on winding country roads. This is particularly down to managing to keep the weight of the 911 GT3 S/C down to just 1,497 kilograms, despite the fully automatic soft top. That is only about 30 kg more than the 991-generation 911 Speedster."
Say you somehow made it to the lucky list of owners in South Africa, that would mean that you would have paid the eye-watering sticker price amount of R6 138 000. That comes included with a 5 year 100 000km driveplan.
