In celebration of its 10th anniversary in 2026 since launching locally in 2016, Renault is giving the KWID a revamp to keep it fresh, budget-friendly, yet feature-rich. This iconic mobility solution has sold over 70,000 units in South Africa, firmly establishing itself as a popular choice within the entry-level segment.
Following the footsteps of Renault's new design direction, the KWID range introduces a new naming convention for two of the variants. The entry trim level, previously known as Life, will be called Evolution, and the middle spec, formerly Zen, will be named Techno. The top spec Climber name will be retained.
New feature updates will be introduced on the Evolution and Climber variants from the end of November 2025. These include an 8-inch touchscreen in the Evolution model, as well as six airbags in the Climber model, packing greater value into the model offering.
For practicality, you can trust that nothing has been tampered with, as can be seen from the retention of elevated ground clearance, a boot space of 279L, roof rails, bold body cladding, and it still comprises stylish features like pronounced wheel arches, robust bumpers, and sleek LED daytime running lights.
The KWID remains safe and user-friendly, as it includes a reverse camera and electric windows on the Techno and Climber variants, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, USB, and Aux across the range. Safety and driver aids include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, seatbelt reminders, central locking, and reverse parking sensors. The KWID also offers numerous comfort features, such as power steering, air conditioning, and good visibility due to the raised ride height.
Under the bonnet will sit a 1.0-litre Smart Control Efficiency engine, which delivers from 4.9L/100 km in the manual and from 4.4L/100 km in the AMT derivative.
Pricing: As of 1st October 2025, the Renault KWID model range has been repositioned, with new retail pricing ranging from R178,799, making it the most affordable vehicle in the SA market currently.
