Suzuki Fronx Review

Our experience with the Suzuki Fronx over a weeks' test was nothing short of exciting. Our test unit came in Arctic White Pearl but the Lucent Orange Pearl Metallic on the pics here looks even better. Onlookers were immediately drawn to its sleek and stylish design with most comments liking the slopping roofline (Coupe like design). The Fronx isn't just a vehicle; it's a statement, perfect for those with a youthful spirit and a taste for distinctive style.

One of the most striking aspects of the Fronx is its bold front grille, dual-layer front lights with follow-me-home function, and the swooping roofline all contribute to its unique aesthetic. The standard LED headlights were a welcome at night whilst the LED Daytime lights are neatly placed on the upper part of the front.

Additionally, the bold wheel arches, combining creased metal and black polycarbonate extensions, make a bold statement as it rides on 16” alloy wheels. With the GLX trim also comes the dual tone paintwork with the black pearl finish for the roof. Together with the rear privacy glass gives an upmarket look.

The rear sort of gave like to dislike comments from people. Some liked its short rear hang but some felt it was too short. All commented though that it makes the whole car stand out, mostly ladies had positive comments.

Inside, the Fronx impresses with its technological prowess. The infotainment system, now sized up to 9”, offers a seamless experience, however a bit of colour on the screen would be welcome. The 360-degree composite video image from the cameras ensures safety and convenience. The leather-clad multi-function steering wheel, cruise control, automatic climate control, and ample charging points add to the comfort and convenience of the cabin. Wireless charging comes standard on the GLX model and in the era of smartphones, this is well thought out by Suzuki.

Safety is key with Suzuki, with features like two airbags, ESP, hill hold control, ABS brakes with electronic brake-force distribution, and ISOFIX child seat anchors ensuring peace of mind on every journey.

The 5 seat layout of the Fronx was ok allowing me and my family of 4 to travel in comfort. Rear access is a bit limited with the sloping roof but it wasn't a deal breaker. Boot space was ok but the folding rear seat do assist should one load big items.

The Fronx packs the trusted and efficient 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine delivering 77 kilowatts and 138 Nm of torque. The five-speed manual transmission adds to the engaging driving experience and is preferable to the 4 speed auto. We averaged 6.3l/100km which even though higher than the 5.5l/100km claimed, is still good in todays fuel crazy price environment.

In terms of value, Suzuki offers an attractive package with a 5-year/200,000 km promotional mechanical warranty, a 4-year/60,000 km service plan, 5-year roadside assistance, and a 6-year unlimited kilometer anti-corrosion warranty, all included in the purchase price.

At a price of R324,900, the Suzuki Fronx represents value for money, combining style, performance, and practicality in one compelling package. If you're in the market for a vehicle that stands out from the crowd and delivers an enjoyable driving experience, the Fronx should one to consider.
