Suzuki Mzansi launched the Dzire, a compact sedan that majors on value and space targeting the family buyer looking for a solid buy or maybe that Uber business owner.
The compact 4-door has a design that is far ahead of its predecessor with better proportions at the rear but its no Milan catwalk design though. The front gets a unique bonnet design, polygonal grille, large headlamps and chrome detailing on the grille and below the integrated fog lamp area. The side gets sharply raked A-pillars and a shoulder line that flows from the middle of the front doors to the rear LED combination taillights. Steel wheels are offered as standard with alloy wheels optional.
The interior is all about space with 4 adults seating comfortably. The Dzire has a unique dashboard design that targets function and usability. Silver accents throughout the dashboard, a rear seat air vent, a nicely spec’ed interior makes the Dzire an interesting proposition for the buyer looking for style and quality at a budget. All Dzire models are equipped with air conditioning, front and rear electric windows, airbags for the driver and front passenger, a tilt-adjustable steering column, a security alarm and immobiliser and ISOFIX anchor points for rear-fitted child seats. The GL-specification level adds rear air vents and an additional 12V socket, a Suzuki audio system with Bluetooth and USB connectivity, front fog lamps, colour-coded, electrically adjustable side mirrors and steering-mounted audio controls. This specification level is also fitted with Suzuki’s higher-grade upholstery with rear foldable armrest with integrated cup holders. The Dzire offers more boot space than its predecessor at 378 litres.
All Dzire models are powered by a 61kW/113Nm 1.2 litre, 4 cylinder engine that transfer power to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox or the automated manual gearbox (AMT). The AMT gearbox uses an automatically actuating clutch and is fitted with a ‘creep’ function to improve low speed comfort, like in slow moving traffic or when parking. Thanks to a 890kg weight, this engine is sprightly and this low weight also aids fuel efficiency claimed at 4.9litres/100km.
