Toyota’s city slicker gains a refreshed face, cosmetic upgrades with mild performance improvements ahead of its official debut at the upcoming 2018 Geneva Motor Show.

The city buzzer retains its frontal ‘X’ facia effect with upgrades including revised headlamp clusters, redesigned headlights with Daytime Running Lights, while the under lamp ornamentation now comes in Black, Glossy Black or Silver. The rear benefits from newly designed out outer lenses, new LED DRL light guides, a wider lower bumper, new 15inch alloys and wheel caps. Two new body colours – Magenta and Blue complete the exterior updates.

The interior gains a 3-D effect instrument cluster with new illumination colour, revised interior colour schemes, whilst new seat fabrics have been created for most of the grades available.
New AYGO’s grade structure includes the entry-level x, x-play, whilst the x-clusiv tops off the grade. In addition, two special edition models; x-cite and x-trend will also be available, boasting unique colour combinations and trim-levels.

Under the bonnet is a revised 53kW/93Nm 1.0litre 3-cylinder petrol engine allowing the AYGO to complete the 0-100km/h sprint in 13.8sec before reaching the limiter at 160km/h. Power is sent to the front via a 5-speed manual transmission. Fuel consumption is rated at 4.1l/100km with Co2 emissions sitting at 90g/km.
The Japanese automaker has also confirmed improvements to the driving dynamics of the AYGO including a reduction in noise, vibration and harshness (NHV) for improved ride quality and comfort.
The refreshed AYGO will be showcased at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. Expect Mzansi availability before the end of 2018
