Volkswagen has published their new lighting technology which is aimed at helping to boost safety. At the same time, the maker might have indirectly given us a rear end view of what to expect from the upcoming Golf 8 family hatchback.

The newly acquired technological feature not only entails enhancing the lighting functions in the makers’ current vehicles but also improve road safety at the same time. These traits have been piloted on the new VW Touareg, which features the new Light Matrix LED headlights that offer comfort and safety when driving at night. VW lighting designers and engineers with their creative juices flowing, have come up with another ingenious lighting technology feature for the tail lights. These new Matrix tail light clusters will allow warnings to be incorporated into the tail lights, for example, enabling dangerous situations, like the area at the end of a traffic jam, to be defused using car-to-car communication.

Furthermore, VW has confirmed that these new clusters will be complemented by new assist functions, such as the micro-lens-based “Optical Park Assist” system, will improve safety while manoeuvring. This system will be able to project the vehicle’s path onto the road to alert passers-by to the parking process.

Images furnished by the maker also confirms minor but enlightening rear end design features of the upcoming VW Golf 8 family hatchback. Not much has been shown but expect a not so far off rear end design from the current model which features newly designed tail lights and a boot.

More details of the upcoming VW Golf 8 will be confirmed soon. Stay tuned
